UTA Canvas – Guide For Accessing Uta.edu.mymav

Canvas UTA is the University of Texas at Arlington Virtual  Learning Environment used by teachers/staff and students to support your modules and courses. 

Canvas LMS is the official learning management system (LMS) of the UTA  and is used as a service for the delivery of online and different courses. It allows you, as the teacher, to go direct and manage the learning of students. 

Students also have the opportunity to utilize many of the tools inside of the Canvas to work collaboratively with their fellow students.

The LMS is an important learning resource and you will access it frequently throughout your course to:

  • Participate in learning activities.
  • Communicate with other students and lecturers.
  • Submit assignments.
  • Access your timetable.
  • Receive feedback and marks.
  • Access learning resources including reading lists and coursework.

How Does UTA Canvas Work?

To get started, you will need the following:

  • Computer or Smartphone with Internet Access Capability
  • Email invitation from your instructor.
  • Valid UTA ID and Login Credentials.

UTA Canvas Login as a Student

To log in to your Canvas account as a student, UTA will email your log in information. If you have used your school Canvas before you will most likely already have a Canvas account and need to only accept a course invitation to log in.  The login URL is oit.uta.edu/canvas/.

To login to your Canvas dashboard:

1. Type in the URL of your school Canvas on a browser. Your login page will appear in the window.

2. Enter either your UTA email address.

3. Enter your Password: this should be your registration number if you haven’t changed your password.

4. Click on “Log in”. You will be taken to your dashboard 

Canvas Student App

You can login to UTA Canvas with the Canvas Student app. It is available in Google Play Store for Android devices and in App Store for iOS users.

With the Canvas Student app, you can log in with a QR code. The QR code is a new feature that allows you to log in with your phone to the Canvas Student app without entering using your school URL.

Logging with the app:

1. Open Canvas app and enter UTA Canvas URL or you can search your school name using the search bar.

2. Tap on the login button and enter either your UTA email address.

3. Enter your Password: this should be your registration number if you haven’t changed your password.

4. Tap on “Log in”. You will be taken to your dashboard o the app.

To login with QR code, tap the Account link and then tap the QR Code for Mobile Login link and the Proceed button.

How to View Your QR Code

The Canvas QR Code feature must be enabled by UTA staff before you can login with it or view it. The QR code is the same as your password and should be kept confidential. Do not allow others to capture your QR code.

You can scan the QR code from the login page of your Student app from an Android device or an iOS device. Make sure you use the QR codes on time as it expires 10 minutes after they are generated

To view your QR code:

1. Sign in to your Canvas account and Tap on the Account:

2. Tap on “QR code for Mobile”.

3. Tap on the Proceed button. Your code will display.

Note: If you cannot view QR codes, it means UTA has not enabled this feature. 

UTA Canvas Password Reset

If you are unable to login to your Canvas account, maybe you have forgotten your password or your password needs changing. You can use the UTA online Forgotten password tool while you must also supply the personal email address you have recorded via your enrolment.

To recover your password:

1. Go to Canvas UTA login page and click on the Login button.

2. Click on the “Forgot password” link below.

3. Enter your personal email account, the one you used for your registration.

4.  Click on send reset link or code.

5. Check your personal email account, as you will receive UTA Account Support Request email from IT Support.

6. Open the email, follow the link, enter your new password and submit.

You can now log in with your new password.

To avoid issues logging in when you reset your password, you must ensure your password is changed on all devices that are connected to the University of Texas at Arlington services.

For any reason, you need help and advice on any of UTA’s IT systems, contact the IT Service Desk.

Why Can’t I Access My Courses?

You cannot access your courses on the Canvas site if your teacher has not allowed students to access them. You cannot view a newly published course on your dashboard except the time your teacher permits.

Thus, even as it is true that all course materials and resources are in a course on the first-day students are not allowed access to all of the course materials and resources on the first day. Also,  the UTA Canvas requirements and prerequisites including other Canvas Modules allow for the staff to control the flow of students through a course.

UTA Mavs Login

UTA Mavs is a student information system portal that provides efficient, secure, and user-friendly access to manage virtually every aspect of the student’s university career.

You can sign in MyMav with your UTA email and password at uta.edu/mymav. To login to your UTA Mavs account:

1. Go to uta.edu/mymav.

2. Below myMAV Login link, click on Students.

3. Click on “Students Login Here”.

4. On the login section, enter your UTA email address.

4. Enter your password and click “Log In” or Enter.

My Mav Email – UTA Outlook

Email is a webmail service given to all students, faculty, and staff at the University of Texas at Arlington. my UTA Email can be accessed using the following methods:

  • Outlook for the web
  • Outlook application for Desktop or mobile
  • Third-party email applications

Note: myUTA Email access is permitted through the use of your UTA login credentials and can be accessed by using the Microsoft Outlook client on your office computer or via the Internet www.uta.edu.

Virtual Private Network (VPN) must be installed before you can access UTA email using the Microsoft Outlook client.
